A UNIQUE R&D PROJECT SUPPORTED BY THE EUROPEAN UNION
Transitioning from a FET Horizon 2020 project, Soil2Power was funded by a Horizon Europe Transition project. Led by Bioo, and other experienced entities in the field including CSIC and Eurecat, it's aimed to create the first generation of autonomous ag-tech biobatteries able to power valves with natural soil, avoiding the need of chemical batteries or the use of expensive structures and maintenance required by solar solutions.
Optimal Energy Collection & Efficiency
Developing a unique low-power-harvesting system to collect and process the generated energy in biological batteries a 60% more than conventional solutions.
Adapted to power valves from soil
Adapting the architecture of the biological battery for a full adaptation to a valve system, providing irrigation in fields powered from the soil itself while avoiding chemical batteries.
Rapid Start-up time
Creating a silk-based bioelectrode to inoculate the most optimal microorganisms decreasing significantly the timing to reach the maximum power output of the battery.
Versatility in Application
The developments implied in the Soil2Power project will increase the potential of application in many other fields for irrigation using biological batteries.
The architecture of the biological battery is being optimized by Bioo for a better conditioning and resiliency in the environment, adapted to changes and to the ag-tech sector.
A NEW ARCHITECTURE IN BIOLOGICAL BATTERIES
ADVANCED POWER HARVESTING AND MONITORING
A new low-power-harvesting technology is being incorporated by Eurecat reducing energy demands while enhancing the harvesting capabilities of the system
INTEGRATING A
SILK-BASED BIOELECTRODE
Silk-based electrodes developed by CSIC provide immobilization techniques, which allow a faster and more efficient electron transfer than conventional electrodes.
